Fantasy Weapon Design
Lesson 2 of 2 Fantasy Weapon Design
Arsen shows you how to design and sculpt your own gorgeous fantasy weapons, using his signature organic workflow.
Sketching Homework
Gather references and then sketch a set of weapons in 2D. If you’re confident in 3D, try sculpting a set of 3D sketches as well. Make sure to keep these loose and free, without adding too many details. Have fun with it!
Blockout Homework
Choose one of your 2D or 3D sketches to use as your main project for this Session, and begin creating a 3D blockout of that design. Instead of adding details at this stage, try to sculpt the broad shapes all around the weapon. Don’t focus too long on any one area, so you can get a better idea of the whole design.
Rendering Homework
Continue adding details to your weapon, then texture and render out images of your final design. When in doubt, fall back on research and reference to help inform what you’re creating. Remember that even the best fantasy worlds are based on various real-world inspirations!
