  • Identifying Perspective Homework

Create a few simple sketches of a box from different angles: looking up from below, looking down from above, looking from the side, and whatever you can think of. Make sure to use perspective lines and vanishing points like Aaron showed in the demo.

For extra credit, find a few photographs, film stills or game screenshots (preferably including buildings) and reverse-engineer the perspective lines and vanishing points, by overlaying the lines on top of the images.

  • Perspective Practice Homework

Create a simple sketch which utilizes perspective. For this practice sketch you can use ink on paper, or Photoshop if you feel more comfortable there. Make sure to choose a subject that can easily communicate perspective, like a building or a relatively straightforward street.

  • Large Perspective Sketch Homework

Now it’s time to do a full ink sketch which utilizes clearly visible perspective. Feel free to plan out the image by lightly plotting a vanishing point and guidelines. By the time you have all the details in there, these planning marks won’t be so noticeable. Take your time and have fun with this assignment. Perspective is a very useful subject for many different kinds of sketches!
