Lesson 1 Assignments0 of 3 Assignments Completed
  • Large Shapes Homework

Collect a few reference images, and use those to identify large shapes, then big, medium and small, and finally break things down into primitives.

Since this assignment is about analyzing and understanding nature, students who are more comfortable with digital tools can sketch over the reference images in Photoshop. There will be plenty of chances to sketch with ink later in the course!

  • Analyzing Flow Homework

Bring in a new set of reference images, and this time identify edges, rhythm and massing in each.

Once again, since this assignment is about analyzing and understanding nature, students who are more comfortable with digital tools can sketch over the reference images in Photoshop.

  • Hero Object Homework

Find a piece of reference for a tree that you feel counts as a ‘hero tree,’ and then create an ink sketch which brings out the personality of that tree.
