Gather reference of other artists’ images for stylistic inspiration, and photos of nature that you might want to use as the basis for your own stylistic explorations. Try to pick reference photos that work well with the style you’re aiming for.

For the main assignment, limit your reference to trees. But for extra credit, you can gather style reference for other natural things like rocks, clouds, bushes, rivers, or whatever you choose.

Using your artistic and photo reference, sketch 3 small images of trees, each in a different style.

For extra credit, you can do this same assignment with any other natural object references you gathered earlier.
