  • Blockout Homework

Create a rough blockout of your design, starting with the most basic shapes possible. Be careful not to over-detail your blockout, because the main objective here is to be able to easily change your design while you’re still in the early stages of the process.

  • Refinement First Pass Homework

Refine your blockout as much as possible by slowly adding in details. If you have trouble thinking of details for a certain area, you can screenshot your model and sketch over the image in 2D. Breakout sketches like this will give you a better plan for how to add your details in 3D.

  • Refinement Second Pass Homework

Continue adding more details until your model is in a good place, and is mostly finished. You can also add pipes, cables and internal parts at this stage. Finally, take a step back and review your design overall. There will be another chance to make changes before moving into materials in the next lesson.
